I moved here a year ago and now they want to close this facility down! They should just move the nursing units elsewhere and leave the independent living units alone. I have family and friends close by and they want me to leave them and my familiarity behind and move somewhere a few hundred miles away. We have enough homeless veterans already, closing this home will create a few more! Please keep our home open!

My uncle is here and loves it. Staff is great. Lots of activities. Very good food. Lots of entertainment and movies. They usually have a contest each night. My Uncle actually won the \pass some gas\ contest. Prior to the event he ate two kraut hotdogs and broccoli soup. He squeezed out a rancid smelling fart that lasted 23 seconds and cleared the entire room. Took 3 days to air the place out.

This is a beautiful and accommodating facility spread over a large area. The staff is very friendly, patient, and caring to the residents. There are loads of activities and events for them to occupy their time thanks to Kats, Angie,and the volunteer support staff. The residents seem to have really good relationships with each other and interact well. There's always something going on and many of them participate. They are a lively and happy bunch of veterans and veteran spouses here. Pay them a visit if you can. They love visitors!

I have never visited a home that is as wonderful as this Veterans Home. They treat the residents like Kings and Queens. Utmost respect and loving kindness is shown every minute of every day. Barstow may be far out of the way for us San Diegans, however it is worth it just for the caring staff. Do not hesitate to go live there or to consider placing your beloved parent there.
