I've been to numerous cathedrals, more than I know in number, of various sizes, and this was one of the most breathtaking. There's a little bit of an underground to the cathedral. At the time, probably some of the oldest things I've seen with my own eyes. Baueux around it is so pleasant, winds calmly and beautifully. If you want to experience the French countryside, I would put this on your list.

Bayeux Cathedral, also known as Cathedral of Our Lady of Bayeux, is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Bayeux in Normandy, France. A national monument, it is the seat of the Bishop of Bayeux and was the original home of the Bayeux Tapestry. The cathedral is in the Norman-Romanesque architectural tradition. The site is an ancient one and was once occupied by Roman sanctuaries. The present cathedral was consecrated on 14 July 1077 in the presence of William, Duke of Normandy and King of England. It was here that William may have forced Harold Godwinson to take the oath, the breaking of which led to the Norman conquest of England.

Such a peaceful place, beautiful architecture and the stained glass windows had such vibrant colours. I am in ore of feeling of calm inside the Cathedral lots of people to be seen but little noise. The area down in basement has beautiful arches and has been lite to highlight the shapes of the arches. All in all a lovely experience and my two 8 year olds enjoyed their time there and asked lots of questions about what they saw. A real Gem.
