I bought a Strobel Rambler Classic after doing about a month of research on different electric travel guitars and I have to tell you this thing is simply amazing. As far as looks go, this picture doesn’t do it justice. That’s the cherry burst finish, and I would match it against that of any guitar I’ve played in the last 30 years (yep, including the Gibsons). As good as it looks though, the top three thing I like about the guitar are playability, comfort and portability. It’s a full 24 3/4” scale neck, and when you put it on a strap and play it, that’s what it feels like. The neck carve feels like a cross between a Fender modern C and a “Gibsonish” D, very comfortable. Mine weighs in @ 5lbs 7 ozs. You can play it on your leg pretty comfortably (feels kind of like a Les Paul, as far as hand & body placement), but it’s super comfortable on a strap. The guitar comes fully assembled in a nice gig bag. You’d probably be able to carry it on most airlines that way, but if you need it smaller it breaks down in less than a minute to a size you could put in any briefcase or backpack. You can look online and see how it works, but it’s really an ingenious design. The switch and pots work smoothly and quietly and the tone of the guitar is very Les Paul-like. That said, if you’re used to PAF-style pickups these are a bit hotter. The tone and volume controls work fine to tame the gain if that’s what you like. One other thing to mention here. Russ was super responsive when I was asking questions about the Rambler. Great customer service. Anyhow, in conclusion I’ll just say if you need an electric travel guitar that doesn’t compromise, this is it.

Fantastic travel guitar. Comes apart easily and fits in my smaller overhead suitcase along with clothes, etc. I bring it along every time I travel for work. Pack a small Honeytone amp and you are set. I looked at a lot of other travel guitars and they were simply too big. This was the perfect size and can be played at gig if needed at the last minute.

This guitar is outstanding! I’ve taken it multiple times overseas (South America, Caribbean, etc) inside my carry on (disassembled), since it’s a truly portable guitar. In my opinion, this is the best travel guitar you can get. It’s a piece of cake to put back together and I love having a “whole fretboard” to play on. This guitar sounds great, looks amazing, and travels like no other. In addition, their customer service is top notch. They’re taking care of me five years after my purchase as if I were a new customer: five stars indeed!

I bought a Strobel to travel in my boat and rv and assumed it would be a compromise guitar but wow....Sounds every bit as good as my American Stratocaster. Also I am no relation to the owner but the name did get me to check it out but so glad I did!! Playing now more than ever!!

The Strobel Rambler travel guitar is exactly what I was looking for. The feel and sound are as good as any full size electric. It's small and light, yet has a full size fretboard, which is a must for me. This guitar is 10 steps above the Traveler Speedster I'd been using on trips. The neck, fretboard and pickups are all great, but I especially like the tuners which are smooth, reliable and easy to get to. The adjustable nut (for slide) is another plus. It amazes me that the Rambler can be taken apart, without changing strings, and carried in an ordinary briefcase. I've got a Les Paul but at 66 years of age, i may use the Rambler for more than just travel.
