The Basilica di san Petronio was closed when i arrived at 6 o’clock!!!! Therefore, i could not enter and visit it properly. So I recommend you to check the opening time of it before making any plans to visit. Although it was closed. I really enjoyed seeing surrounding of that area. Have a great visit!!!

I was really impressed by this place. It is a XIV century gothic cathedral that holds 22 chapels in its interior. Although now I’m COVID times mass services are limited and seats have been removed you can still go inside. For 2 your are given a bracelet that allows you to take pictures inside. The basilica holds a representation of Jesus based on the imprint of the holy shroud. It is also built on top of a meridian line that projects the position of the sun and stars on the lines carved on the basilica’s floor. The meridian line is one of the most ancient astronomical instruments that illustrates solstices and equinoxes. Added to this it is decorated with hundreds of images, statues and relics from famous artists like Giacopo della Quercia. It is a magical and mysterious place that is worth the visit.

Basilica di San Petronio is breathtaking. The varied instalments around the inside of the church are beautiful. It is very peaceful inside and a must see if your enjoy architecture. You do have to pay 3 Euro for the privlidge of taking photos but I was happy to.
