Excellent examples of traditional historic buildings have been relocated to this open air museum. You can go inside each one and see how people lived in the area from around 1600. Some of the houses are quite similar to each other. The surprises were the really old houses with 1950's and 60's furnishings because they had had continuous occupancy until then!

We had a great morning visiting the open air museum! Interesting and beutiful. Descriptions are in German, English, and French. A rich history to explore. You could easily spend several hours here or come several times and still not see it all. We had a delightful lunch at the restaurant on the grounds. There are also several places to eat right outside the gate as well.

A great place to visit and get to know the building and homes from different centuries of the history of the black forest. You can walk inside most of the building and there is staff walking around dressing like in the old days. There are houses, workshops, farms houses, etc. Very fun for the kids.

This is an open air museum which shows the way people lived in the old days in different parts of the Black Forest. The houses and the stalls have all been rebuilt in line with their very original features. They can all be visited inside. You can also appreciate the different styles of the houses according to the different areas of origin. The overall experience is nice though not the most thrilling attraction you can think of. The museum also hosts some animals and the opportunity to see people dressed in the very traditional attire of the Black Forest.
