This place wasn't too far from our hotel and we decided to give this place a try for an early breakfast. Very clean and friendly service! The food was good and displayed beautifully. We weren't a fan of the cheesy biscuits and gravy, as we are normally use to the traditional kind. But overall, this is a good little breakfast place in Kansas City!

Food was pretty good. Avoid the drinks unless they are alcoholic. Example being the orange juice looked and tasted powdered (it separated into clouded water on top and what looked like orange syrup with tiny pale orange balls floating in the syrup during the meal. I'm glad I waited to drink it. ) Service was prompt and friendly. The menu strives to be locally sourced and organic. This means that when the menu says sausage it means spiced bison. Also the French toast is made from some sort of tangy (not quite sourdough but reminiscent) really hard crusted bread. They don't explain any of this mind. They are happy to toy with your expectations and take your confusion at the odd tastes as a sign for them to be solicitous.
It was a very nice environment. I really enjoyed the anesthetic. Good vibes! I ordered farmer's breakfast, and they allowed me to sub the meat (I don't eat pork) for extra eggs. It was delicious.
I wouldn’t recommend. We made a reservation but we were sat 25-30 minutes after, without being warned about the wait it would be. Then weren’t given time to participate in the mimosa deal which wasn’t totally their fault, just frustrating that they weren’t understanding. The server took another 25-30 minutes to take our orders. Then when we found a short, black, curly hair in the food he was nowhere to be found. We had to stop a waitress to get a manager, who didn’t say anything but shook her head at us? Then when the manager got to us, she didn’t say anything either. No one came and apologized to us til the end. The food was very mediocre. Update: After the owner heard our concerns, instead of offering an apology and professionalism, made a rude comment about the way my friend ate her food, and blamed the consumer. A business with proper values for their customers would have at least recognized the fact we found a gross hair in our food, the slow service, and and offered an apology. Truly an embarrassing establishment.
Neighborhood joint with the classics and a few of their own creative twists. Next time, I would try the chilaquiles “tostada.” The chicken and waffles was good. Flavorful batter, maybe slightly over-fried, but well seasoned and still not dried out. The Florentine Benedict was delicious. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. Great location, and a perfect stop on the way to the City Market.
