I initially gave Salas Engine a 5 star rating back in Oct 2017 when my F150 2004 truck engine was rebuilt. But events subsequent to Oct 2017 regarding faulty work on my truck, has compelled me to regretfully change my review. I live in Dallas, but since my truck engine went bad I had it replaced as an emergency at Salas. I took possession of my truck 5 weeks after they took my truck. The first problem I had was bad solenoids, had a CEL. I brought it back and they fixed it. I drove my truck to Dallas and January 2, 2018 we had a harsh winter freeze. I drove my truck half a block and it stopped on me. Found out a couple of days later that the engine had frozen. Salas put water instead of antifreeze; unbelievable. I had the truck transported back to Mercedes and 3 weeks later supposedly they rebuilt the engine. I found out I had some oil leaks after I took possession of the truck, I took it to a mechanic and they found the oil pan warped and Salas put some JB weld to stop the leak. The whole oil pan had to be replaced and got a 375 bill for it. The oil leaks persisted and I took it to a mechanic and they found oil leaks from timing chain cover, the crank shaft seal, the torque converter (transmission area), and faulty cam phasers. In addition, I had the oil filter adapter gasket replaced since there was an oil leak there. I've yet to fix the other leaks since those will run me in the hundreds of dollars. My overall impression of Salas Engine repair is that you have to be on your guard, they are terrible at listening to you and working with you. My advice, do not take your vehicle there for engine rebuilt. In retrospect, I should have ordered a long block from Powertrain Engines and had it dropped by an expert mechanic. Good luck to all.
