Went here to find a cat for my dog. Didn’t think I’d find anything in my first visit but I was pleasantly surprised to meet and take home Zena. A 9 year old girl who within 24 hours has bonded and snuggling in bed together. The staff were very nice and helpful in choosing the right cat. Zena (now known as Zena Patches Bobrow) is in great condition and in good spirits so it’s safe to say she won’t be backing.

I have been a volunteer at Unleashed Pet Rescue for a little over 6 months now and I don't think there is a single bad thing I could say about them. They are one of the only no-kill shelters that takes in all the dogs that get overlooked because they wouldn't be easily adopted out or because the pets medical bills would be way too expensive. There have been so many circumstances where other shelters step into an area to save animals, which is great, but what they don't tell you about is the animals that are left behind. They will literally leave dogs and cats there to DIE because they don't have space or they aren't purebred or they aren't puppies, but Unleashed would never. They get there after all the other shelters have taken the puppies and purebreds to take the sick animals that may not be as easy to get adopted out, because they can truly save them all. Yes, they may not always be the quickest at the front desk, or have the poodle mix you want at the point, which do come around a lot more than you think, but they are genuinely trying their best to make the world a better place. Every day they save pets from domestic abuse situations, to living as strays that are starved and close to their death, to aggressive dogs that have had it rough. It doesn't matter the situation because there are things that led that pet to be that way, and most of the time it isn't so bright. They just need some time and love. Unleashed Pet Rescue gives those pets a chance to live their absolute BEST lives, but they can't do that without constant donations and support from you!! Donate and volunteer at Unleashed Pet Rescue to help save lives and to hang out with puppies.

I fostered to adopt a mini poodle from here at the beginning of the quarantine, they gave me all of the things I needed for foster and kept me informed about meds/vaccinations/surgery date. He is my best friend and the cutest boy ever! You can tell the staff and volunteers really care about these animals and want to see them in good homes. They also go out of their way to take the medical cases/behavioral cases/breeds that other rescues don’t- love that!

My parents adopted Maggie from Unleashed two years ago and they had the best experience! They had been looking for the perfect dog, and the employees and volunteers at Unleashed were so helpful. They do such a good job caring for the animals they rescue, we will definitely be back.

I’ve tried to adopt both a dog and a cat here on two separate occasions, and both times were horrible. The staff doesn’t seem to be adequately trained in helping people or pets in any way. I went in looking for a kitten and all they said was “they didn’t have any” and that was it. No trying to help me or saying check our website. Nothing. So unprofessional. They also don’t let you go see where the dogs are being kept. That’s suspicious to me and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re kept in squalid conditions. I’ve heard rumors that the staff sucks, and that is apparently true. PLEASE DON’T ADOPT FROM THIS SHELTER! Go to Wayside Waifs or KC Pet Project instead. Those places are so much better.
