The Vehalna Digambar Jain Mandir Atishaya Kshetra is a very spiritual place for Jain community near Muzaffarnagar in U.P. The temple is very near to Muzaffarnagar Bye pass road near Rana steel India Ltd. Vahlana was known by the name Behranagar around 200 years back. At that time this was a big city, with more than 300 Digambar Jain families. A huge Jain temple with Parswanth Idol in white marble. I found this temple a symbol of secularism (which is fast fading from our culture!) because there is a Mosque on one side and a Shiv temple on another side. The Jain temple has a very old idol of the lord Parshrwanath. The temple has 57 feet high Manasthamb. A newly built statue of the lord Parshwanath is also there which is almost 31 feet high. The temple has a meditation hall. Vehelna Jain Mandir is dedicated to the twenty-third Tirthankar Bhagavan Parshwanath of Jainism. The place is situated amidst the lush greenery of the Vehelna village. The place is a beautiful sight. It has greeneries and flowers all around and rides for children. One can also organise a picnic here. I have seen a group on a picnic here when I visited this place. The temple has a parking space which is quite sufficient in days when the crowd is normal. The place has a canteen too, but for food, you have to order it first a few hours earlier. We purchased potato papads, kachri, moon ki daal ki badiyan (chunks) at a fair price. These are famous items and quite delicious and good in quality. Annual Gatherings on 2nd October, 18th April and Parswanath Nirwana Temple. During festivals, Vehelna Jain Mandir is lit up with fireworks and a lot of other fun activities are organized. During special occasions, there will be special prayers in the temple too. During departure, the guards at parking and at main exit saluted us so we gave them 10/- to each as a tip. It gave us a feeling of satisfaction.
