While looking forward to finally having my daughter seen by Dr. Trinh, the process to just make an appointment has been very frustrating! When I first called, Laura told me I needed to submit xrays for my daughter before I could make an appointment! I questioned this as I was unclear why xrays would be needed for an endocrinology appointment. She corrected herself and said I would need a referral from my daughter's primary care (even though I have a PPO). She said once she received the fax, she would call me to make the appointment. That did not happen. I called today (it took 45 minutes and being passed from office to office to get to someone) and Ziomara was very abrupt. She said the fax was received 7 days ago but nothing was done with it because they had too many other requests to process. She told me it would take two to three weeks to be reviewed and then (if approved) she would call to make an appointment! Meanwhile, my daughter is in need of care. Had I known it would be such a lengthy (and frustrating) process to make an appointment...I would have definitely looked for another provider! This was my third day calling the receptionist and leaving a voicemail for Maria. The automated message says she will return all calls by the end of the day. No return call yet. My next call will be to CHOC's Board of Directors. I am an educator and advocate who works full-time in higher education. It should not take this much energy and effort to make an appointment for a sick child. Precious time is being wasted. My next call at the end of this week will be to Kimberly Cripe, CEO and President of CHOC. CHOC is exceptional and this kind of unprofessional and poor customer service is unbecoming of such a stellar institution.
