My daughter has attended this College for the last 2 years and doesn't get any help and support .. the place is a joke and definitely needs investigating further as the teachers are very unhelpful and have been very rude to my daughter. I had to give one star rating as there isn't a minus rating to choose from

Level 2 Art and Design course for my sister is atrocious. Apparently so many students have walked out of the course. No practical work to help the students learn what they need to be researching. Also absolutely no help for students with dyslexia.

Studied a Photography Degree here. I had to give it one star so that I could post. This place is under resourced, shambolic, chaotic and the Photography 'Course Leader' only has a BA himself, which means he cannot even mark your dissertation. The equipment is appalling, and there is a distinct lack of space to work and very little access to computers that actually work. They don't even supply Lightroom on the macs that do work, and none of the computers are calibrated. There are no Tethering Facilities in the photographic studio; a studio where the lights are not working most of the time, and where they insist you have a 'responsible adult' with you at all times, despite being a mature student. There is very little academic content taught on the course, and it certainly will not prepare you for a 'grown up' course such as a Masters Degree. You will learn more about Photography for free online. If you feel comfortable being treated like a child, and have no interest in grown up academic discourse or conceptual analysis, then this is the place for you. It is a kindergarten, Enjoy! Otherwise do not waste your money, and complaining will get you nowhere, because they will cover up what is going on to safeguard their own jobs. This place is an absolute travesty to Higher Education. Go to a proper University.

I am absolutely appalled by the way that young adults are treated at this school. On several occasions I have been told that students that attend this institution have been told that they, “Have no future,” or “Have wasted their time,” resitting exams, by teachers, which I believe is incredibly unprofessional. I was hoping that South Essex College would be a safe, professional place of Education, that would be an appropriate place for one to resit exams, however, this has not been the case. The state of this college is shameful.
