Beautiful property, but if you're looking for a place that embraces the principles of conservation espoused by the national Izaak Walton League, this chapter is not for you. The chapter leadership fosters a dishonest, vendetta-like approach to its camping membership, driving about 40 families out of the organization, some who had been members for over 15 years. This is accomplished through secret, closed door meetings; targeted rules changes; TRIPLING of fees; and a general unwillingness to engage in meaningful dialog with any member that is not on the board, or a former High ranking Marine. It's little wonder that the chapter's membership is down by 40-50 percent in the past five years.

If all you're interested in is shooting, this might be your place. The leadership is almost totally focused on shooting sports. However, if you're looking for a place that embraces the principles of conservation espoused by the national Izaak Walton League, this chapter barely pays lip service to it. Further, the chapter leadership fostered a dishonest, vendetta-like approach to its camping membership, driving about 40 families out of the organization - some who had been members for over 15 years - through secret, closed door meetings; targeted rules changes; tripling of fees; and a general unwillingness to engage in meaningful dialog. It's little wonder that the chapter's membership numbers are down by 40-50 percent in the past five years.

IWLA is an amazing facility. Centered around conservation, IWLA also offers camping, fishing, hunting, education, shooting and so much more. A membership based facility, perspective members must be sponsored by a current member and voted in. Various programs and activities offer the opportunity to both give back to IWLA and reduce annual membership cost. The pristine lakes and woodlands are home to fish and game. The shooting facilities include Trap and Skeet, a 100 yard rifle range with covered positions and benches, a pistol range with covered positions. The other activities included Scouts, hunter and conservation education, family events, competitive and recreational shooting.
