When I was harvesting pipi, young life guard (long hair up to touching shoulder)came to and told me, "you can't catch pipi here. I asked him "where can I catch it then?" he said "No where, its national park, you can't catch anywhere" . After I came back to Melbourne and I have checked rules online, Yes I can catch it, and also the life guard was not even fishery officer as well, how dare he tells me what I can or can't. well, Venus bay is NoT national park to start with. He need to be tought lesson, that telling wrong information is make them (life guard ) look stupid. or maybe he is LIAR. I will come back this summer to catch pipis!!

They have a lifesaving club, public toilets, facilities to wash off after a surf or similar. Limited parking so be sure to arrive early or be prepared for a bit of a walk. But the beaches are so open and long its worth it. Limited shade there as well.
