Grandfather of proprietor Nigel Ovens opened the eponymous Mearns T McCaskie in Wemyss Bay in 1935 to supply the local villages with the finest meat and meat products possible. 75 years on and Nigel and his team, with input from his mother, Elizabeth, who is the daughter of the founder and has worked in the business for 51 years, are still committed to making all their products in small batches using the finest ingredients. McCaskies have won an incredible six out of a potential eight annual haggis awards, making McCaskie’s haggis Scotland's most awarded haggis. The family firm is also a previous winner of UK Butcher Shop of the Year, makes Scotland’s most awarded black pudding and has received several Great Taste Awards. In addition to the thriving shop, the business operates a successful e-commerce business (soon to be re-launched in spring 2019) and adjoining restaurant.

Just popped into to pick up some more pies, being new to the area and already a big fan of everything we've had from here but I also picked up some chicken tempura as it caught my eye. Just had it for lunch and Oh Man! was it good!! Get some if you go there!

Went in this morning to collect my Christmas order, after waiting in the queue for an hour, 2 members of staff were talking stating how next year it will be regulars only for orders. When I got into the shop my bag was just handed to me while “regulars” orders were being dealt with. I understand at Christmas things are hectic but any business should be good business ? Never have I been made to feel so little.

MacCaskies is without doubt one of the best butchers I've used. The quality of the meat is brilliant - scottish native breeds well hung. Creating amazing tasty dishes. This is the 4th order in recent month, the staff are outstanding - the cooking tips brilliant ... I use the courier service for delivery - the meat arrives next day still chilled - ready to use or freeze. The Copas turkey at Christmas was one of the best I've ever tasted ! - One day after this virus sorted out - I'll be taking a drive through to see for myself Steedsy Linlithgow

My phone accidentally added a 4 star review for this fine establishment when it is clearly worthy of a full 5 stars! The butcher meat is sublime. It is my absolute go to for breakfast ingredients. When I find another establishment who uses their produce it becomes a reason for visiting them too. The new look is fantastic and was impressed with how they managed to carry on despite all of the upheaval. Keep up the good work.

When I got my first order I was so impressed the box is just as it said on information video and even the overnight national delivery man was happy and smiley delivered the proper way up. Well as for the food that I had longed for, for so long and have finally found McCaskie to deliver all the best breakfast food that I miss so much because I have lived in England. The black Pudding was brilliant, Fruit Pudding- Brilliant, Haggis- Amazing , Square sausages-Amazing,Scotch Pies Brilliantly full and plump Amazing, Potato scones- yummy....Just placed my order for over The Holidays just me but I do love decent food, fresh Scottish meat, I don't like ready made but I am ordering ready made from MCCaskie because I know it will taste just like my Mummy used to cook. Can't wait for the delicious food to arrive and have also ordered some things for my daughter (born in Scotland) and Partner as part of Christmas after giving them sample from last order which they loved. Thank you McCaskie Butchers and wish all the Staff a Merry Christmas after such a difficult year....
