Trusted Wigan Engines to recondition a 1.8T Audi cylinder head. At point of fitting, the entire valvetrain was seized. The tappets had previously suffered water damage which was missed, and there was still a lot of oil and dirt in the valve caps and spring recesses, as though it had simply been sprayed with engine cleaner. The cylinder head was deemed as too damaged to fit by the garage, but Wigan Engines agreed to refund but never did. Had to issue claim against them. They STILL didn't pay. The now have a CCJ (County Court Judgement) against their business, and I am left with instructing county court bailiffs to recover the debt. Absolute joke. Caused me untold stress and financial outlay. God help me if I am ever passing their premises.

excellent place! they know exaclty what they talking about. i had a full engine rebuild for a 2.2RWD transit looked brand new when it was done and now my van drives like a dream! previously also bought parts off them for my vehicles never had a problem with anything! highly recommend both brian and dan if you need any engine work done or just advice!
Absolutely awful place. Had our car more or less a full year. The car was probably worth around 1500 but almost a full year later we still have not received the car back and are over 2000 out of pocket which includes almost 500 paid for a new cat which they assured us was the problem but quite obviously wasn't. They never return calls and just constantly fob us off with false promises. Currently in process of taking to small claims court.
Wigan Engine Services was recommended by Lamberts Garage in Bacton Suffolk. The cylinder head was sent off, reconditioned then re-fitted. Unfortunately, after a number of weeks the rocker cover shaft started to leak due to the refitting of an original old oil seal that should have been replaced during re-assembly for a new easily sourced one that cost 3.20. After some lengthy communication over a number of weeks between myself, Lamberts Garage and Wigan Engines Services no positive resolution was achieved and I was significantly left out of pocket with a serious oil leak. I ended up taking the Audi to a contact and reputable VAG mechanic in Sussex to repair and who commented that the original workmanship and service received (by both parties) was below par and unacceptable. Save yourself a load of hassle, money and time - look elsewhere for a professional service.
