The .25 cent sales tax generates about $350,000 in annual revenue for current and future projects. Any citizen or business representative having an idea on a project, which would contribute to business or community development, is encouraged to contact the WEDC Executive Director or a member of the Board of Directors. The City of Windcrest is a suburban community, originally incorporated in 1959, it was once a rural community but has since been surrounded by the continued growth of San Antonio and communities to the north. Approximately 5,600 residents live within Windcrest city limits. The Economic Development Corporation works diligently to bring new and exciting businesses to the City. Their most recent work can be seen along Walzem Road with the reconstruction of Windsor Park Mall into Rackspace, Inc. The WEDC Board of Directors is responsible for the oversight of the WEDC Budget. They also form policy and with the WEDC Director set projects for the pupose of stimulating economic growth and sustaining development in the City of Windcrest. The WEDC is a Type B corporation authorized by The Development Corporation Act of 1979. WEDC Board Meetings are held the Second and Fourth Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers at City Hall unless posted otherwise.
