Horrible experience. I was pulled over on September 18, 2019. I put both of my hands out of the window when I was pulled over, specifically to make it easier for the deputy on scene. I provided my driver’s license and NC state private investigator’s license (my reason for being in the area was legal, private business) to the deputy. I understand the police have a difficult and important job and the last thing I would want to do is make their job harder. We NEED police. However, when Sheriff John Holley arrived on scene a few moments later, (to repeat the lecture I just received from the deputy), he had the audacity to call me disrespectful and a “smarta**”. This is extremely unprofessional behavior from the sheriff. I did not break the law in any way and there was no valid reason to suspect that I was going to; this is evident by the fact that I was not issued a warning or citation. I hope this is seen and something can be learned from this. I will be avoiding driving through this county in the future.
