Overview
Aiping Tai Chi Center was established in 1996 by Grandmaster Aiping Cheng, one of the world’s foremost authorities on Chinese Martial Arts and named one of the Top 100 Chinese Martial Artists of all time. Grandmaster Cheng began her professional martial arts career at age 15 as a member of the elite professional Zhejiang Wushu Team and later became their head coach. Grandmaster Cheng trained extensively in traditional tai chi lineages under Yang style master Fu Zhongen, Sun style master Sun Jianyun and Chen style masters Chen Xiaowang and Chen Zhenglei. Grandmaster Cheng has coached multiple professional tai chi athletes to world championships. The Aiping Tai Chi Center curriculum emphasizes deep understanding of tai chi principles, with emphasis on proper alignment and movement. The Center’s curriculum was developed by Grandmaster Cheng utilizing professional training techniques while keeping true to the traditional core elements of tai chi. In 2017, Grandmaster Aiping Cheng handed the Aiping Tai Chi Center to her disciples Shifu Shirley Chock and Shifu Jonas Karosas to continue her legacy. Shifu Shirley Chock, Shifu Jonas Karosas, and Shifu Bob Shannon are the Center’s head instructors.
