Aiming to make Arizona more than just a dot on the map, ADOT oversees the highways and byways in the state of Arizona. The Arizona Department of Transportation works to move people and products quickly, safely, and efficiently through the state. It does this by maintaining roads and bridges, protecting the environment, and managing congestion on state roads. Arizona is home to some 20,000 miles of roadways and more than five million registered drivers. The department is goverened by a director and deputy director as well as the State Transportation Board. ADOT also publishes the well-known and award-winning Arizona Highways magazine.
