Ballet Des Moines is a nonprofit organization based in Des Moines, Iowa, focused on re-establishing a professional ballet company in central Iowa and inspiring young dancers to pursue their dreams of dance. Under the artistic direction of Serkan Usta, our mission is to revive Des Moines’ professional ballet standards for artistic excellence; attract the most talented dancers, choreographers, and staff; and educate and develop dance artists and dance enthusiasts. In addition to annual productions, Ballet Des Moines offers a range of education and outreach programs to young central Iowans, ranging from young children experiencing their first time on stage to young adults who have trained for years hoping for careers as professionals. We also provide opportunities for young dancers to observe, participate and interact with professionals in their daily work routine of class and rehearsals.
