Brass Band

Brasset Linköping The brass band from Linköping and Ryttargårdskyrkan, usually called Brasset, was formed in 1960 and today consists of more than 35 musicians, in the ages of 13 to 77. The repertoire ranges from Swedish folk music to the Salvation Army music and older religious hymns. The band also performs male choir songs which has made them particularly appreciated during their tours. Since 2006 the band is directed by Daniel Bjurhamn. Despite its religious background the orchestra often gets profane inquiries and has played in a variety of contexts over the years. The orchestra has also become known for its long tours. They have for example been to the United States & Canada in 1990, Hong Kong & Japan in 1996 and Australia & New Zealand in 2005. In between, they have toured in Europe, for example in Germany, France, Estonia and Norway. In the autumn 2010 the band celebrated its 50th anniversary, which today must be seen as highly unusual for a brass band from a Swedish Free Church, aside from the Salvation Army. The most common and recurring platform for the band, is of course Ryttargårdskyrkan in Linköping, where it frequently participates in various church services and other music events.
