CAFC S.p.A. gestisce il Servizio Idrico Integrato nella maggior parte dell'ambito territoriale ottimale centrale Friuli (120 Comuni su 135). Il Servizio Idrico Integrato è costituito dai segmenti acquedotto, fognatura e depurazione. I cittadini residenti che usufruiscono dei servizi di CAFC S.p.A. sono: Acquedotto (424.234) Fognatura (426.777) Depurazione (382.536) L'infrastruttura distributiva si caratterizza come segue: Oltre 5900 km di lunghezza rete acquedotto; Oltre 3900 km di lunghezza rete fognatura; 5 opere di presa principale acquedotto; 500 impianti di depurazione di cui 4 con potenzialità superiore a 100.000 AE e 263 sollevamenti fognari. E'​ una società pubblica controllata da 123 Amministrazioni Comunali, da 3 U.T.I. e dalla Provincia di Udine, L'azienda, nel perseguimento di un processo di miglioramento continuo, si è dotata: di un sistema di gestione integrato certificato per la qualità, l'ambiente e la sicurezza sui luoghi di lavoro; Accredia l'ente di accreditamentoCertiquality sistemi di gestione certificati di una metodologia d'indagine, ormai pluriennale, finalizzata al rilevamento del grado di soddisfazione dei propri utenti relativamente ai servizi erogati. Un pò di storia: Il Consorzio per l’Acquedotto del Friuli Centrale fu costituito nel 1931 da 14 Comuni del Medio Friuli, lungimiranti nell’intuire l’importanza di un moderno servizio di rifornimento dell’acqua per lo sviluppo del territorio in cui, all’epoca, l’economia rurale rivestiva un ruolo centrale. La costruzione di un acquedotto, quindi, rappresentò un modo per rendere disponibile l’acqua per i vari usi, economici e civili. L’anno 1950 costituì il primo, rilevante momento per lo sviluppo dell’acquedotto del Friuli Centrale con l’inserimento dell’Azienda nel programma decennale nazionale delle opere pubbliche straordinarie. Quando, in seguito, nell’anno 1963, venne costituita la regione a statuto speciale del Friuli Venezia Giulia, l’Azienda intensificò le scelte di sviluppo, espandendosi e consolidandosi sui territori serviti. Dopo il sisma del 1976, terminata l’emergenza e ripristinata la funzionalità della rete, ripresero i programmi espansivi e di miglioramento delle infrastrutture quali l’entrata in funzione della centrale di telecontrollo di Molino del Bosso (località che si trova al confine tra i territori comunali di Artegna, Buja e Gemona del Friuli) e la costruzione della centrale di captazione e pompaggio con serbatoio di invaso a Fauglis di Gonars. Nel 2000 la trasformazione in Società per Azioni (da Consorzio per l’Acquedotto del Friuli Centrale a CAFC S.p.A.) e la conseguente trasformazione in Società di gestione dell’integro Servizio Idrico Integrato (acquedotto, fognatura e depurazione). Oggi, a distanza di molti anni dalla sua costituzione, il CAFC S.p.A. è una delle maggiori società di servizi pubblici della Regione FVG, grazie anche ai recenti processi di incorporazione delle attività del Consorzio Depurazione Laguna (bassa friulana) , del ramo acqua Città di Udine di AMGA S.p.A. e di Carniacque S.p.A. (montagna friulana). con 123 Comuni Soci, 3 U.T.I e la Provincia di Udine ed una rete infrastrutturale di grandi dimensioni, per la gestione del Servizio Idrico Integrato CAFC S.p.A. rappresenta un’eccellenza nei servizi di pubblica utilità.
