CFL cargo was created in October 2006 as a joint venture between the national Luxembourg railway company CFL and the Luxembourg production sites of steel industry leader ArcelorMittal. The strategic location in Luxembourg at the heart of Europe enables CFL cargo to operate on the main European North-South and East-West routes, in cooperation with its subsidiaries CFL cargo Deutschland, CFL cargo Danmark, CFL cargo France and CFL cargo Sverige, as well as in cooperation with sister-company CFL multimodal. In cooperation with subsidiary CFL technics (formerly known as Ateliers de Pétange), a wagon repair & maintenance workshop located in Luxembourg, CFL cargo also offers fleet management services.
