CHICKS provides free respite breaks for children from across the UK aged 8-15 who may be living in poverty, suffering bereavement, bullying or abuse or have caring responsibilities. Childhood lasts for such a short time. It should be a time for laughter and learning, not a time of fear and isolation. On a CHICKS break, children can have fun, relax and make new friends. They have the chance to experience new things, like seeing the sea for the first time or going horse riding, and this helps to build confidence and self-esteem.
