Cavendish Cancer Care is a Sheffield charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for those living with cancer and their loved ones. Since 1991, we’ve been helping people across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. We are run by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. So what does Cavendish do? From our centre at 34 Wilkinson Street, we offer free of charge support to people who need us. By calling 0114 278 4600, you will receive an initial assessment within 5 working days. There, you will decide on the best course of action for you: whether that’s counselling, massage, acupuncture or hypnotherapy. We offer all sorts of different complimentary therapies designed to alleviate both the emotional strain of cancer and the physical pain that can come with the illness. In 2017, we provided 4193 free therapy sessions, with our youngest client being 3 years old and our oldest, 97! 92% of clients who reviewed our service say their overall quality of life was improved by our support: a testament to the value of what we do. We rely almost entirely on the generous support of volunteers, fundraisers and donors. The runners, bakers, party-makers and bucket-shakers. We receive a small amount of NHS funding but this only covers the cost of keeping our doors open for two weeks.
