The Cello Biënnale Amsterdam is a biennial international cello festival, which is, for ten days, the ultimate meeting place and source of inspiration for cellists and other musicians from around the world. In 2020 the eighth edition will take place from October 22 - 31th. During the Sixth Cello Biënnale Amsterdam, many foreign cellists, like world stars Ivan Monighetti, Antonio Meneses, Daniël Müller-Schott and Jean-Guihen Queyras, will make their appearance. The orchestras and ensembles playing together with these famous cellists are the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of the 18th Century, the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Atlas Ensemble, Residentie Orkest, Rotterdams Philharmonic Orchestra, Cello8ctet Amsterdam and Cappella Amsterdam. An important and inspiring part of the Biennale is the National Cello Competition. The jurymembers, formed by a number of international star cellists, will also participate during the Biennale as soloist or teachers during master classes. The Biennale offers a pleasant mix of passive and active participation for lovers of music in all forms and styles with the cello as an important. The enormous public interest in previous editions proves the success of this mix. The Cello Biennale Amsterdam takes place every two years in the Muziekgebouw aan ' t IJ in Amsterdam (The Netherlands). Besides many concerts, master classes and workshops taking place in the Kleine Zaal (small hall) and Grote Zaal (main hall), the entrance hall is filled with cello builders, publishers and information stands; a meetingplace with a great festival atmosphere!
