Cranleigh School operates as an educational institute that offers a secondary school education. There are about 400 boys and 200 girls in the School with a Sixth Form of about 240. Most 13+ entrants to Cranleigh remain at the School for the full five years and achieve passes in three subjects at A Level. The great majority of all leavers go on to their first choice universities. Part of the School’s style is an easy and informal relationship and mutual respect between Common Room and members of the School. All members of Common Room are involved in the tutorial programme and in the supervision of extra-curricular activities. This is essential in providing the all-round experience the School offers the pupils. The School is essentially a boarding community: pupils play a full part in the daily activities of the Houses, though all members of the School eat together in a central self-service Dining Hall. The latest in a line of major building projects, the Emms Centre, housing Modern Languages, Science and Mathematics Departments was completed at the end of 2008. Work on phase one of a new Art and Design Centre has just been completed.
