Disabled American Veterans (DAV) helps ex-military men and women fight personal battles. The nonprofit group strives to improve the quality of life for some 200,000 wounded veterans and their families by helping them navigate the US Department of Veterans Affairs system to obtain benefits. DAV also represents the political interests of veterans and provides various outreach and volunteer programs. The group, which generates most of its revenue from tax-exempt contributions, has about 1.2 million members and boasts some 110 offices in the US and Puerto Rico. DAV was formed in 1920 and chartered by Congress in 1932. The organization has partnered with large corporations to help veterans get assistance.
