Excalibur comics is the oldest comic book shop in Portland, OR boasting 40 years(!) in the industry. Opened in 1974, owner Peter Fagnant has worked for four decades to build a store whose reputation and influence as one of Portland’s top comic book stores is undeniable. His daughter, Debbie, is now the co-owner and runs the day-to-day operations of this comic cornerstone. Excalibur boasts the largest back-stock inventory in the Pacific Northwest, including an impressive collection of Golden and Silver Age comics as well as literally millions of current issues that we diligently keep organized and accessible to our patrons. We also have a wide selection of trade paperbacks, graphic novels, manga, and more! Excalibur prides itself on being the only comic book store in town that focuses purely on the art of comic book collecting. Looking for that hard-to-find 1st print or trying to fill some holes in your collection? Look no further. New to comics and need some suggestions on reading material that’ll knock you socks off? Our knowledgeable staff is happy to make suggestions that will fit your interests. We also provide a weekly subscription box service to customers wanting to buy the latest and most recent comics with well over 600 weekly subscribers on file, including local artists and writers right here in Portland, OR! We are proud participants in the comic book scene, participating in the annual Free Comic Book Day as well as holding regular signings and events. Thanks to our many customers’ support, Excalibur was recently nominated for an Eisner Award for the Spirit of Retailing. We have also been featured in numerous articles in the Oregonian and other local news sources as well as nationally for our contribution to the annual “Wonder Woman Day” charity event, hosted by the store. To date, we've helped raise over $200,000 for local and national domestic violence charities. We also actively work to get comics to kids in need through the local food bank.
