The mission of Family Focus is to promote the well-being of children from birth by supporting and strengthening their families in and with their communities. We help participants gain confidence in their own abilities, overcome challenges, raise healthy children, succeed in school and become active, productive participants in the life of their community. Our programs are built on respect for the families we serve and their cultures, and a commitment to working with – not for – our participants. Founded in Evanston in 1976 by Bernice Weissbourd, a leading scholar and educator in child development, Family Focus today operates seven direct service centers throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. Last year, we served over 37,000 parents and children through our programs, plus outreach, referral, and crisis intervention services. Our centers are located in the Chicago neighborhoods of Englewood, Lawndale, and Hermosa/Humboldt Park and the nearby communities of Aurora, Cicero, DuPage, Evanston and Highland Park/Highwood. Matching programs to the communities we serve, we offer programs for parents with young children, pregnant and parenting teens, grandparents raising grandchildren, families exposed to violence, estranged fathers, immigrant families and children and teens in school. All services are available to all, many are bilingual, and most are offered free of charge. Family Focus, Inc. operates as a non profit organization. The Organization focuses on childhood development, youth, and family support services. Family Focus serves customers in the State of Illinois. Family Focus has been providing home-based crisis intervention services since 1989 and has a tradition of a solid working relationship with the Department of Ch. Family Focus offers a wide range of family support programs for children and families, plus outreach, referral and crisis services at our 7 direct service cente.
