FoM are a charitable group based in south Wales, with several ongoing missions to aid the deprived residents of Monze, in Zambia, Africa. The group was created after its founder, Deana Owen a retired nurse, travelled to Zambia in 2012. Friends of Monze works with our partner organisation Zambia Women and Girls Foundation in Monze. We rebuilt Lushomo School in Monze, 3 classrooms educating 880 orphans and deprived children. In 2016 we are rebuilding Kampunu school in a rural area near Monze, 450 children are expected to be taught in 3 classrooms starting January 2017. We are planning a permaculture garden to teach sustainable agriculture as well as providing nutritious and delicious food at Lushomo, Sichiyanda and kampunu schools and Chisikili support group. We work with grassroots organisations. We provide capacity building and innovations to contribute to groups having sustainable and inclusive patterns of development. For example we helped provide a solar water pump to enable a HIV support group to grow vegetables and a peanut butter machine to increase the value of their crop.
