Many elders and adults with disabilities face loneliness every day. Social networks that they have spent their lifetimes building may have diminished, and family, if it exists, may live far away or be otherwise absent. It is FriendshipWorks’ ongoing mission to reduce isolation, preserve the dignity, and enhance the quality of life of Boston's older adults. We accomplish this through the dedicated efforts of our staff and volunteers who are there 52 weeks per year providing assistance and companionship to those who need it most. There are many ways to get involved with FriendshipWorks and become a part of our mission: Become an Employee: You can make a difference by joining our team. Visit our career page on our website for available positions and see firsthand how we preserve the dignity of older adults in Greater Boston. Volunteer: You can make a difference by becoming a volunteer. Join one of our many programs to help decrease loneliness and isolation in elders. Whether you are interested in one-on-one visits, music, pet visitations, or medical escorting for older adults, we’ll find something that fits your interests. You can fill out a volunteer application on our website. Donate: You can make a difference by supporting FriendshipWorks’ programs financially. All you have to do is make a contribution. Every donation helps provide services to those elders in need. Visit our website for more details. Refer an Elder: You can make a difference by preventing an elder from further harm. If you know an older adult, 60 years+ (55+ with hearing or vision loss), struggling with social isolation, you can refer them to our services through our online form. We also provide all of our services in Spanish and encourage Spanish-speaking older adults and volunteers to join FriendshipWorks. Visit our website for further details about all opportunities at FriendshipWorks. FriendshipWorks's mission is to reduce social isolation, enhance quality of life, and preserve the dignity of older adults
