Kia is South Korea’s oldest auto maker. Founded in 1944 as Kyungsung Precision Industry in Seoul, Kia produced Korea’s first bicycle called the Samchully. The Kia name is derived from Chinese: ki means “to arise or come up out of” and the “a” refers to Asia; put together, Kia means “to arise or come up out of Asia.” Kia officially arrived in the United States in 1994. Kia joined the Gurley Leep Automotive Family in 2000. Gurley Leep Kia is one of the youngest members of our family as the eighth Gurley Leep location.
