Long Haul Folding Kayaks produces folding kayaks and canoes for the military, government agencies, research/environmental organizations, private military/training contractors, and consumers. Each Long Haul Folding Kayak is made from the highest quality materials and offers superior stability, serious load capacity, excellent tracking, and unparalleled reliability. These boats are available individually and in small fleets and are designed to pack down and be highly portable. Long Haul Folding Kayaks also repairs and reconditions customers’ kayaks and canoes and rigs them for sailing and fishing. Wood frame kayaks were conceptualized hundreds of years ago and have stood the test of time. We hand-select the best Ash and Birch woods, then laminate and shape them into frame components, and seal them with marine-grade finish. High-grade stainless-steel fittings connect each piece to create strong, lightweight frames so tough they can confidently handle large payload capacities, open water, and the stresses of full-size sail rigs. Heavy-duty marine rubber hulls are handsewn and topped with the best quality marine materials in the industry to create kayak shells that last for generations. Comfortable, ergonomically correct seating and smart details are thoughtfully positioned for hard work, long hours, and the demands of the military in mind. Master Boatbuilder and Owner Mark Eckhart developed his designs after more than three decades using, repairing, and manufacturing kayaks. He realized there was a better way to design and build long-lasting, folding kayaks that are just as portable as they are durable. Mark is committed to creating new boats that will last for generations as well as helping customers repair recondition their existing boats. He rigs customers’ kayaks for sailing and teaches owners how to make their boats last. Every kayak and canoe is built in Long Haul Folding Kayaks’ Cedaredge, Colorado shop by Mark and his team of highly skilled craftspeople.
