The association Lugano Scherma or, more commonly, Lugano Scherma or even just LUG, is a club of fencing with headquarters in the namesake city in Switzerland and is affiliated to the Swiss Fencing Federation. Lugano Scherma was founded on the 17th of July 2008 by four enthusiasts: Francesco Wicki, Christian Barozzi, Sebastiano Brenni and Paolo Bassanini. The purpose of the association is to promote fencing at all, regardless of age and ability of each. The club is based on 3 pillars of activity: fencing school destined to athletes from 5 to 89 years, the fencing competitive intended for athletes elite who want to reach important targets such as European, World and Olympic games and fencing for all, destined to athletes with disabilities. The Club has adhered to: - Swiss Fencing Federation - Ticinese Fencing Federation - CEPE The Club counts among their ranks athletes already established in the field of national and international along with the new and young promises, which are beginning to reap the first results thanks to the precious teachings and the passion of the technical staff that have occurred over the years: - Franco Cerutti (2008-2013) - Alfredo Rota (2012-2016) - Andrea Candiani (203-2016) - Diego Confalonieri (from 2016) Athletes - Michele Niggeler - Elia Dagani - Carlotta Manz - Francesca Cugini Members of the Honor Committee: - Francesco Wicki - Sebastiano Brenni - Renzo Boisco - Alberto Bassanini - Jean-Aldo Cerutti The club in 2019 has a partnership with the Milano Scherma.
