Based in Trondheim, Norway, Marine Cybernetics (MC) was founded in 2002 by 4 NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) professors. During the last 12 years, the company has established itself as the leading company for third-party testing of computer control systems used for operational and safety critical processes in various maritime and offshore drilling systems. Marine Cybernetics specialty is computer simulation – Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) – testing. On 6 May, 2014, DNV GL officially acquired Marine Cybernetics, expanding their competence in third-party testing and verification of control system software for the maritime and offshore industries. Marine Cybernetics will initially be an Independent Business Unit (IBU) in DNV GL, to reflect the cross-industry character of the company and to encourage group-wide business collaboration. Marine Cybernetics AS provides computer programming services. The Company contributes to safer and more profitable ships and offshore installations through third party testing of computer control systems. Marine Cybernetics serves customers throughout the world.
