A part of the Lynden family of companies, Milky Way, a division of LTI, Inc., entered the milk hauling business in the late 1940's. By the 1970's Milky Way was the largest motor carrier of bulk fluid milk within the state of Washington. During the early 1970's the company began building custom built stainless steel tankers at the Lynden terminal to ensure new state-of-the-art tank technology for the pickup and delivery to customers. Milky Way now has established terminals and offices across the northwest, offering milk pickup throughout most of the Pacific Northwest. Milky Way takes pride in it's strong ethics and traditional values of integrity, efficiency and personal service, which today continues to push our company into the 21st century as the leading bulk milk hauler in the Pacific Northwest. LTI, Inc. is a subsidiary of Lynden Incorporated, a family of transportation and logistics companies primarily serving Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, with additional service extending throughout the United States and internationally. LTI, Inc. is an EPA SmartWay Transport Partner. The SmartWay Transport Partnership is a collaboration between the U.S. EPA and transportation companies to voluntarily improve fuel efficiency and reduce air pollution from freight transport. LTI, Inc. and its Milky Way division have also received a SmartWay Excellence Award from the U.S. EPA. The EPA awards recognize the top one percent of SmartWay partners for superior environmental performance and leadership. LTI, Inc. earned a top score in the Tanker Fleet Category based on its exceptional fuel economy, payload, idle time and modern emissions equipment.
