Volunteer with the Muktangan English Reading Programme! Taking a whole systems approach to education. Muktangan primarily works in three domains: Teacher Education Programme: Our mission is “Education for the Community, by the Community”; where we develop and employ members, mostly women, from under-served communities to child- friendly educators. These women come from the same neighborhoods as our students. Our trainees undergo a three-year intensive training and internship program before they are inducted into our schools. To date, we have trained 800+ teachers with approximately 50 initiated to the program annually. School Programme: We provide free, inclusive, quality English Medium Schooling from KG to Grade 10 to over 3,700+ children every year through our 7 MCGM schools. We impart a developmentally appropriate child-friendly curriculum through a methodology of teaching that knowledge construction by the learner rather than passive rote learning. We give emphasis to individual attention: our teacher to student ratio 1:14. Ours is a holistic & inclusive program – Seamlessly amalgamating academics with IT, socio-emotional development, music, dance, drama, art, craft, and sport. We even have facilities for students with special needs, while also supporting their integration into the classroom. Outreach Programme: Muktangan's teaching-learning methods are now benefiting 1000's of educators and students through our various outreach projects. Since 2013, we have partnered with Government and non-government entities such as the Learning Space Foundation, GEV, ICDS, MSCERT, and TISS. To mainstream our quality processes. Muktangan provide quality, child-centred, inclusive English-medium schooling to thousands of underprivileged children in Mumbai.
