Nav Vani School for the Deaf established by the Catholic Diocese of Varanasi (a minority community) in 1988 (managed and administered by The Society of Khrist Jyoti) offers educational facilities from Class I 12 for more than 250 deaf students irrespective of class caste creed and religion. 150 students live in the hostel (the reason is: the children are from the rural areas of the region and cannot afford transportation). In 2002 the school was accredited for its excellence in achievement by the Rehabilitation Council of India. In 2010 the school received the national award in the institutional category from the President of India. In 2013 the school got affiliated to CBSE New Delhi. On Jan 2 of every year this school takes the initiative in bringing nearly 2500 students with different disabilities from 20 different schools for the disabled of the region for a day of sports and entertainment. Vision: An inclusive society with equal opportunities equal rights and full participation for the persons with Hearing Impairment. Mission: <​ol> Educational rehabilitation of 100 students with deafness up to secondary within the next five years. Increase in the enrolment of the girls with deafness by 3 to 4% each year. Increase in the retention of the girls with deafness by 90% within the next five years One awareness program each year within the radius of 5 KM of the school on the prevention of disability (deafness) so that the preventable diseases causing disability among the new born babies can be reduced to 90% within next five years. <​/ol> Nav Vani School works and hopes for the bright future of the Deaf Hard of Hearing Students
