The Oakland Community Land Trust (OakCLT) was founded in 2009 with the purpose of combating community deterioration and expanding permanently affordable housing and economic development opportunities for low-income residents of Oakland, California. We remove land, housing, and other community serving real estate assets from the recurrently turbulent market and hold them in permanent trust with, and for, the community. OakCLT also supports the development of commercial and retail facilities that are preserve cultural value and directly serve the community. We strive to foster leadership through a responsible and informed board of residents and community members.
