Ohana is an iPad app for the elderly to make it easy for them to call, view family photos, and text the rest of the family. Older adults have trouble with touch screens and mobile devices. The interfaces are confusing, it's all icons and no text. The touch screens are too sensitive to anything but a quick tap All this comes together to make a device that is very difficult to navigate or use for something as simple as talking to the rest of the family. This means that our elderly are isolated. They don't use touch screens, but the rest of the family communicates exclusively on these smart devices. Our older loved ones are excluded from family conversation, like being at the kids table again That's why we made Ohana. Large buttons, Clear text, and stark contrast. Ohana is easy to use for older adults. They can easily voice and video call loved ones or send voice message as text messages.
