Olympia Fencing Center is founded and privately owned by Daniel and Iulia Hondor. Daniel is originally from Romania and started fencing when he was seven years old. Member of the Romanian National Epee Team 12 years in a row, he won numerous titles, as part of the team as well as individual. He started teaching fencing in his home city, Craiova, at the age of 19, until the 1996 Summer Olympics brought him to the USA. With over 25 years experience in teaching the Olympic sport of fencing, Daniel is running his own fencing center in the Fresh Pond of Cambridge, catering today to all surrounding cities: Belmont, Watertown, Boston, Waltham, Arlington, Winchester etc. The only fencing floor in the country, custom made for shock absorption, boosting over 6500 SF and 16 electrical fencing strips, makes Olympia the gathering place of all fencing aficionados from the surrounding cities and even the states - epeeists from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and beyond are traveling to Olympia to fence. New England's largest epee adult class, beginners and advanced, home of the Vets.50 Women's Epee, World Bronze Champion and to over 200 epee fencers, ages 4 to 64 and over , with some of the best results in New England Division - Olympia's fencers are dominating the American fencing by being a constant presence on the podiums. To teach the rapidly growing fencing programs, former Chinese multi champions Shuang Meng and Kai Zhao have introduced in summer of 2015 the newest Foil program. Today, both Epee and Foil fencers hold the best results in the New England Division of fencing and continue renewing their highest national rankings, year after year.
