OPG has been farming in the Scottish Highlands since 2001 growing a mix of seed, packing and organic ware potatoes. The business currently farms over 200 hectares on the Moray Coast – which offers unique climatic characteristics, light coastal soils and relatively low disease pressure with long rotations combining potatoes with livestock and arable farming. The ‘gulf-stream effect’ – a warm air stream from the Atlantic; combined with long summer day lengths and sunshine hours, creates a microclimate ideal for growing conventional and organic potatoes. We make sure to utilise our unique environment without interrupting the natural beauty of the Scottish Highlands. As a dedicated grower in specialist seed and ware sectors, OPG has sought to exploit its key strengths of focused management, established landlord relationships, long-term customer partnerships and operational expertise in organics and seed propagation.
