The Field Trip Project is an experiment in designing immersive physical experiences, site visits, and overnight trips for people in leadership positions. Field Trips will bring them closer to the communities and issues with which they interact every day, producing better decision-making and informing policy across domains. We're a collective of artists, designers, policymakers, data scientists, theater practitioners, psychologists, community leaders and activists who believe our leaders need to get closer to the issues on which they work, and do so by building first-person experiences for elected officials, policymakers, and business leaders. The Field Trip Project aims to become the leader in experiences designed for policymakers, bringing them much closer to challenging public issues and connecting them deeply – and in new ways – with the communities they serve. In our world, a Senator lives on food stamps before voting on welfare legislation, or a CEO in the hospitality industry spends two weeks in the company's cheapest room before architectural or price point changes. Eventually, with the development of a digital suite, people can log into or download a gamified version of a citizenship application at home, and simulate the process with realistic roadblocks.
