When STATTAUTO München was founded in April 1992 the development of CarSharing as a professional and innovative transport service for Munich was paramount. But this was obvious from the beginning: Should the implementation of the CarSharing concept be successful and should an independent operational infrastructure develop, that provides reasonable employment and qualification opportunities for the targeted audience of underdogs to a sufficient extend, then STATTAUTO München should be managed as an independent social enterprise (at the beginning a purpose-built operation of Spectrum Arbeit Beruf Soziales e. V. ). In 1994 the relevant framework conditions were met – with 600 users, 60 cars and 14 stations – and the first temporary employment measures for “destitute” long-term unemployed were created – especially in the areas “fleet management / vehicle care” and “administration”. Since then we’ve expanded our socio-political commitment – simultaneously with our successful operational development. By now more than 16.000 STATTAUTO München users share around 450 vehicles at over 125 stations in Munich and the surrounding area. Since 2013 STATTAUTO München is a business area of the nonprofit Spectrum Mobil GmbH . Further areas of Spectrum Mobil GmbH are the A24 workshops , the biggest nonprofit and branded car and bicycle repair workshop in Munich. The field of activity covers the repair and care of cars, motorbikes and bicycles. STATTAUTO München CarSharing is a member of the Bundesverband CarSharing (BCS) www.stattauto-muenchen.de/impressum
