Established in Palermo in 1982, it is today an engineering company specialized in civil engineering works with particular regard to maritime and hydraulic infrastructures, of which Eng. Francesco Giordano is Technical Director and Administrator. During its activity, Sigma has developed the design of important infrastructural works and in particular maritime port and coastal defense works. Sigma has designed a number of dredging and nourishment projects, offshore engineering, riverbench regimes, urban drainage systems, irrigation and water resources, transport infrastructures, environmental monitoring systems. Sigma Ingegneria has also carried out several environmental impact studies with the acquisition of positive assessments of environmental compatibility both at a regional and national level, environmental modeling, hydraulic-maritime and shoreline dynamics. Sigma is certified according to EN ISO 9001: 2008 for category EA 34 (Design of maritime works, studies and related surveys, works management). In order to provide services always informed by criteria of efficiency, effectiveness and economy, the Sigma Ingegneria S.r.l. it has always been equipped with multiple instruments, equipment and calculation codes for conducting field surveys, especially in the maritime-coastal area and the control of underwater marine structures. At present, the company is equipped with several work boats, which are used for morphological, sedimentological, geophysical and environmental surveys. In this context, the main activities are: Bathymetric surveys Single and Multibeam; morphological reliefs with Side Scan Sonar; stratigraphic reliefs with Sub Bottom Profiler; GPS-RTK topographic surveys.
