With some 55 distribution centers across England and Wales, Smiths News is the UK's largest magazine and newspaper wholesaler, supplying about 30,000 retailers daily. Customers include newsstands, convenience stores, and supermarkets. The company serves as a middleman between publishers and retailers and provide both with services (such as sales development and information, returns, and marketing activities). Smiths News is the news distribution arm of high street periodicals seller WH Smith. In 2011 Smiths News took over Dawson Holdings for £20 million (about $30 million). Two years earlier Smiths News bought Dawson's news and magazine operations.
