We are a social enterprise working to connect rural communities with clean technologies and transparent agriculture markets. We believe in exploring technology and market-based pathways for development and the empowerment of rural, tribal, and other poor communities. Udaipur Urja Initiatives (UUI) Producer Co. Ltd. is a community-owned social enterprise. The enterprise has been promoted by Seva Mandir (www.sevamandir.org), a pioneering development organization, to provide an alternative development approach to communities. UUI currently has an equity membership of 18,500+ families and community institutions from across 276 villages and 5 tehsils in the Udaipur district in Rajasthan, India. Our Products -Biomass-fueled cookstoves: Selling cookstoves which require less than 50% of the fuel required for traditional chulas used in Rajasthan. As of March 2018, 18,504 families have enrolled and taken efficient cookstoves. Additionally, 123 rural women have been engaged and trained to promote, distribute, and monitor the cookstoves. As of September 2017, almost 37,000 tonnes of carbon credits have been verified. -Solar Lights: Selling solar-powered lamps and light sources to homes and villages which don't have access to electricity. As of March 2018, 67 rural women have been engaged and train to promote and distribute the solar products. Additionally, 369 solar products were sold across 87 villages in 3 tehsils. -Agro-Produce: Providing fair price, transparency in procurement practice, and accessibility of the procurement centres to farmers. In total, 27.75 tonnes of 4 varieties of pulses have been procured at a local level from 377 farmers in 27 villages.
