United Egg Producers (UEP) is a Capper-Volstead cooperative of U.S. farmers working collaboratively to address legislative, regulatory and advocacy issues impacting egg production – through active farmer-member leadership, a unified voice and partnership across the agriculture community. In 2002, United Egg Producers established the first UEP Certified guidelines – standards for hen well-being backed by decades of research and recommendations from an independent Scientific Advisory Committee. Today, more than 85 percent of eggs produced in the U.S. come from farms that voluntarily participate in UEP Certified, choosing to open their farms to independent auditors. Visit www.uepcertified.com. UEP also maintains the top consumer egg safety website, eggsafety.org, which provides comprehensive egg safety information and answers to a variety of common consumer questions. This Egg Safety Center provides information about egg production on farms that follow the FDA Egg Safety Rule, which is required for farms with 3000 or more hens that produce eggs for retail, restaurants, foodservice and other customers. The United Egg Producers operates as an agricultural cooperative which represents the interests of regional egg producers. The Company addresses concerns of the egg industry such as, price discovery, marketing information, unified industry leadership, establishing a relationship with the Department of Agriculture, and developing a presence in Washington, D.C.
