University Health Care System has been a leader in the Augusta area for nearly 200 years. We have worked diligently to enhance the quality of life for everyone and to provide the highest level of care to the communities wef serve. From a simple grassroots beginning 1818, University Health Care System has grown into one of the largest, most comprehensive healthcare providers in Georgia. The 581-bed, not-for-profit University Hospital is the cornerstone of a healthcare system that provides compassionate and skilled care through comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, nursing facilities, home health services, prompt care facilities and rehabilitative care programs to a 25-county region in Georgia and South Carolina. Since 1999, University has been named the Consumer Choice Award winner for overall quality and image. The Consumer Choice Award is based on an independent survey of consumers conducted by National Research Corporation to recognize the most preferred hospitals in metropolitan areas across the country. This places University in an elite group of hospitals nationwide. McDuffie Healthcare Foundation, Inc. operates as a non-profit organization. The Organization provides bariatric surgery, laboratory, maternity, mobile mammography, orthopaedics, therapy, radiology, outpatient, and nutrition services. McDuffie Healthcare Foundation serves communities in the State of Georgia. University Health Services, doing business as University Health Care System, serves the communities of some 25 counties in Georgia's Central Savannah River Area and neighboring South Carolina. The system includes University Hospital with more than 550 beds, a women's center, a cancer center, and a heart center. It operates two separate nursing care facilities with a total of 249 beds, and maintains a home health care service. University Health Link is a managed care contractor co-owned by University Health Services and a group of 440 physicians serving companies in the region.
